TAXCO by bruni

TAXCO

Let's continue with my church/cathedral series. we're still in Mexico in the old silver mine town of Taxco. took this picture while driving by. we had such a difficult time finding a parking spot. Taxco is such a wonderful tourist attraction that they come in hordes by buses and car that it was almost impossible to park. we finally found a space and to walk quite a bit to get back to the cathedral.
btw I read that construction began in 1871 and the project was finished in 1857.
This time you'll find pictures inside pictures of the cathedral in my second album.
What an interesting building!

What an ornate facade! Obviously the silver mines made it possible for them to build the cathedral this way. Great shot!

@bkbinthecity Thank you for all your comments on my Mexican church series..this one really is the top with all that splendor inside..should've mentioned that it was built in 1761 and finished in 1758... oh what riches went into it.

@allie912 Thank you Allison for your comment.. the one in Taxco was built in 1751 and only took till 1758 to finish it. I find that amazing.
