Xel-Ha is a aquatic theme park located on the Caribbean coast of Quintao Roo, Mexico. the collage shows more pictures of our adventure under water. first I have to mention that it was a stormy day..lots of rain..the sea was kind of heaving but this was a once in a lifetime experience so I surprised my husband - after first watching a short video of what was going to happen down there- he thought I was going to back out. no way..so there were the 3 of us - a young girl joined us - her mother chickened out. most of these pictures are self explanatory. just like to mention that the helmet they put on us weighted 70 pounds but in the water you don't feel it. if water came inside the helmet we were told to lean back for it flow out again. I was a bit nervous at first but once it happened and I got rid of the water I was fine. there were two divers with us..one photographer and one
walking close by to look out for our safety..sometimes I needed a push, when a wave came it lifted us up and you first had to find your footing - of course there were ropes to hold on to to guide our way. then when we reached a certain spot the diver started feeding the fish. too bad the water was too murky to see too clear. we saw a lot of different colored fish and of course the main attraction were the sting rays. as you can see in the picture they just gently floated over you. my husband had one right smack on his face shield swimming over his helmet. all in all I can say I'm glad I didn't chicken out. we bought a video of it and I played it today for the first time to take some pictures it. hope they are clear enough for you to see. http://365project.org/bruni/365
Bruni - that sounds like so much fun! Every time we go on a cruise, we plan on doing it, and well, we never reserve our spots soon enough.....so we dont get the chance to do it.....ugg. Have you seen the scooters under the water?!? That looks like fun too!
That would be an amazing experience and I would feel the same way. I'm glad you pushed past your initial reservation and went for it! Now it's something you'll never forget!
I don't know if you do good under the water like that, but it sound very interesting.
