Lennep is a very small but unique town of which I’ll post some more pictures later. Today, I show you the old fire station which was a tower with a balcony used as a fire watch. Downstairs used to be a hand pump wagon which in those days was pulled by a horse. Once they had motorized vehicles, garages where built.
A great capture of this wonderful building /station.
We have in our city a similar building with a tower. I`m told the tower was used and needed to empty and dry the hose from water after extinguish.
After the fire they hang out to dry.
What a nice shot of such an old building, Bruni! :) You captured the history perfectly! Love the write up of how it went with the changing times. Great detail. Do they still use it or is it now abandoned? Job well done! :)
@prttblues Bev, it is still in use. we went back to Lennep to pick something up and parked in the free parking lot across from the fire station and there was a drill in progress. all the fire engines where parked outside and a lot of young people where about. we did not stop to watch, but I still took more pictures.
Great capture of this fire station, Bruni. How wonderful that it is still used. Have not posted again, dizziness has been back so on here just a little, and wanted to see how your trip is going. Looks like you are having a wonderful time.
