As I mentioned already in one of my previous comments we were on our way to Orillia when we stopped in Beaverton where Hans showed me the old movie theater. this was on Friday of last week. our destination was Orillia. as most of you know, we live at the bay on the south end of Lake Simcoe. the north end of the lake is in Orillia. It is a little over 50 miles away from us and takes about an hour and fifteen minutes in normal traffic. now Canada has a long weekend this week with Monday being our Civic Holiday and the traffic is almost bumper to bumper as a lot of people travel North to their cottages. being retired we left early Friday morning and coming home we went against the incoming crowd.
here are a few pictures from a marina on Lake Chouchichin.. the name Chouchichin comes from the Ojibwa gojijiing meaning "inlet", it's a medium-sized lake which separates Lake Simcoe by a narrow channel.
Correction: the marina is actually on Lake Chouchichin, from the Ojibwa gojijiing meaning "inlet", it's a medium-sized lake which is separated from Lake Simcoe by a narrow channel. so you see it's easy to think it's all Lake Simcoe. sorry guys for not clarifying this in my origional comment. @snowy@allie912@kerristephens@digitalrn
What lovely shots and a great collage, Bruni :) I wished I lived near the ocean or at least a lake sometimes. It looks so beautiful from the shots you've taken. Well done :)
@fishers Louise, we go at least once a year..and the next day we visited Barrie..also a town on Lake Simcoe..pictures to follow. @pyrrhula you should see them at the end of June when they are all dressed up for Christmas. the event is called Christmas in June. all the boats are decorated and at night they have firework display over the lake.
@prttblues Bev. coming from a town on the water like Hamburg in Germany I'm always drawn to water. so a lot of our outings are at lakes or rivers and living so close to the lake I see the water every day. I know I would miss it if I lived somewhere else.
