Last year's roses by bruni

Last year's roses

Unfortunately, the climbing roses didn't survive the harsh winter we had last year. Hans cut them almost down to the root system hoping they'll come back. to grow to the height they used to be might take a year or two. the top part of the roses almost climbed to the roof over our deck, which is seven stairs up from the ground level. so at least I can enjoy a picture of them.
A great capture.

You should have had our Morning Glories from last year. They would have climbed wherever you wanted them to climb LOL

Very lovely roses, Bruni. I do hope that new ones can grow back sometime. I know that must have been hard not to see them and have to cut them down like that but I am keeping fingers crossed they come back to you!

I'm positive that a good hard prune will do wonders for them Bruni! I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)

They were definitely beauties, but you are right; even here in Virginia, the winter took its toll.

It's funny how the winter affected certain plants. My irises did not bloom last year- all green but no flowers. The winter seems to have put the spark back in them as some bloomed this year with two or three blossoms on the stalk. I think your pruning efforts will have the result you want. Now all the nutrients are getting back into the root system. You're right about the photo too- it helps keep the memory and hope for a similar bush alive.
