We love it

For almost 3 weeks already, we've enjoyed driving the new 15 km long awaited Highway 404 extension from Keswick to Newmarket and back. A "Beat the Traffic Walk/Cycle Event" was held in the morning of the Opening Day, September 17th. all proceeds went to our Newmarket Hospital's - Southlake Foundation -.
My son's best friend, Sam Reid, founder and owner of the Band Glass Tiger entertained with some of his nostalgic tunes.
the last view errands I had to run or when I went to my daughter, who lives in Newmarket, I took the new extension and saved a lot of travelling time. the speed limit is 100 kph and if you just stay slightly under 120 kph you are safe. the traffic just zoomed by me with more than 130 kph. I guess everyone must think the cops are not patrolling this new extension yet.
I took this picture yesterday when Hans drove this stretch for the first time, and since it wasn't in rush hour, there was hardly any traffic until the next on and off ramp.
It's such a nice road and sounds so needed and practical. I'm happy for you!

@cejaanderson Thank you Jane. when you consider the planning of this 15 km extension was in the planning since 2008 and was suppose to be finished in 2012 and dragged on until this Fall, we thought it'll never happen. so many people drive into Toronto to work even from further North of here and for them to save time on the long rush hour drag is so welcomed.

What a nice new road. Great photo and pretty Fall colors too, Bruni.

A lovely new road. I hope nobody gets hurt from going too fast. My husband says most people think of speed limit signs as mere suggestions. Sounds like that's the case with this new road.

In this shot you can really see the Fall colors coming out

LOL as I was reading this I was thinking 'bruni's not that far away from me' but then I noticed there was something very wrong with the picture, the cars were all going the wrong way., creepy I thought until I looked closely at your bio - it's not the English Newmarket, it's the Canadian one! Oops too early in the morning!

Always great to have a new road that actually goes where you want to go! We had a similar road open a few years back and people treated it like a race track - most got caught eventually though when the police cottoned on! Lovely autumnal colours in the trees.

@ceilidh Good morning Margaret. Yes we have a lot of names the same. I notice them also when travelling in the US as well has reading them in comments here on 365 especially from our English friends.
Keswick, Sutton, Newmarket, Scarborough come to mind.

Love empty roads to drive. Seldom in our country to find. Great capture and love the colors of the trees.
Ivan did answer you question right.

Nice shot, Bruni. The new pavement is pretty. And the view is lovely as well. I see color on the trees! You speed demon! But then, I'm one to talk.. I go 75 to 80 miles per hour in our 55 and 65 zones. Shhhh. No telling!

There is so much to see in this shot, I'm wondering how you managed to get it all in. Did you take it from a car, or an overlook, or with a wide angle lense? It's a great POV with the winding roads in both directions, and trees way into the distance. Lovely view.

@skstein Sandy. thanks for asking Sandy. I have a pocket size Canon Power Shot A2400IS. we were just coming around the curve. I leaned forward, zoom in the shot and took it through the cars windshield. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. one of my better pictures.
