Sharon Temple by bruni

Sharon Temple

Here we have another drive by picture, taken last Saturday on our way to our daughter. It's a picture of the Sharon Temple. As for the history of it, please read the following:
"The Sharon temple is located in the village of Sharon, Ontario. ( we pass by it on our way to Newmarket, On.) The temple was designated as
a National Historical Site of Canada in 1990.
It grew around the farm of David Willson, the leader of the Quaker denomination known as the Children of Peace. The temple was constructed between 1825 and 1832 by the Children of Peace.
A great shot.

That is a really interesting history. I always thought the Quakers called their places of worship "Meeting Houses". Well, you learn something new every day!! Nice shot Bruni!

Very interesting Bruni, looks lovely in the sunshine- perhaps the world could do with a few more children of peace!

@olivetreeann Ann, you're right and apparently there are 8 meeting houses on the premises. the Sharon Temple is actually a museum. I leave you with another link just in case you like to read up on it. http://www.sharontemple.ca/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=16
