Taking off again. by bruni

Taking off again.

This morning once again I took a lot of pictures hoping to see the actual feeding. all I got was her standing above the two remaining youngsters with their bills open and then she took off and I almost missed it I thought. well here she is. this was my last picture of about 30. while I went inside to get these pictures on the computer, hubby came in and told me I missed the last two fledgelings leaving the nest.
Super bif capture

They build their nests like swallows? Not in trees? Got to be quick to get those photos!

Isn't it always that way? You turn around and miss the best part!!! I missed seeing my 5 babies leave. That night they were all tucked in their nest and the next morning all were gone!! Luckily I did find the one that was trapped, but I would have loved to have seen the others leave!! Oh well, I got to see the one and help it and you got to see the last two before they left!! Cool shot of mom flying out!!! Lucky she didn't aim for your head!!

You gotta be quick for these!! Actually, I like the blurred effect and you almost go the head frozen. Great try!!

@cashew Hi Kathy I was sitting in a garden chair waiting patiently for Mom to show up. the nest is located way up high under the roof of our back split home, so no fear of her skimming my head. what happened to the one baby bird you mentioned in your comment.

@bruni The baby got trapped on the screen in the storage room where they were born and where we put our male dog while our female is in heat. He was in there and acting funny and so I put the female dog in the house and let him out in the fenced in yard. I went in and found the baby stuck on the screen so I gently undid his foot and then brought him outside to his momma and sibblings. Then I took the photo of him!!

Nice shot, Bruni. Aren't the kids cute? After they get plumage, that is. I was lucky that I had a straight on view. I even got a photo of mom cleaning the nest out! That was disgusting so I never posted it. Glad you got to see the kids though. I was hoping you would.

@prttblues The robins just take off and leave the cleaning to Hans. it's gone now. he had to clean the eave throughs anyway and that's a big job on a large house, so taking down the nest was no problem while he had the huge extension ladder already set up.

@bruni I was talking about the mom cleaning out the babies' waste. The nest is still where it was after they left. I'm glad he didn't have trouble taking the nest down. Maybe next year they will build in an easier access point to photograph!

@prttblues Hans just cleaned it out and put it up again. I don't know if robins have more than one litter. when we had a dove nest last year, they came back more than once. our poor sparrows had no young ones this year. the nest is empty for second time...darn blackbirds.

A beautiful speed shot and great timing. We did have a blackbird nesting near our house. I was afraid the disturb them by making pic.s of it. Now the all are gone.
