I think I saw a hummingbird

Grace and I got together yesterday for a photo shoot before Hans and I go on our ten day road trip coming up this Saturday. while driving from her house to our destination, a park very close to her place, where we love walking along the river bank, I said to her, "I might as well leave my camera in car, there's nothing much to take pictures of ". her reply was:
" you can, but don't be disappointed if you see something today and have no camera". she was right. while I was taking pictures of bees going from flower to flower, it was then when the unexpected happened.
we saw something that looked different. something was flitting about hovering for seconds over a flower and taking off again. I followed it as good as I could and kept on clicking my little P&S, not knowing what I tried to take a picture of. to my surprise, when uploading the pictures, I think what we saw was a hummingbird. (it was so tiny, maybe just a baby one). can you imagine my excitement? the pictures are not clear, but it's the first time I ever saw one and so I posted it for you anyway.

PS> I don't know what happened to the date here. it shows 1 January 2009 instead of 13 August 2015. it was yesterday that I made the collage.
It certainly does look like a hummingbird!

That is a Hummingbird Moth- yes there really is such a thing and I've seen one in my garden. They really do fly just like a hummingbird so it's easy to assume that's what it is. But as you noted they are so tiny that you think it must be a baby.

@olivetreeann is correct!! This is a Hummingbird Moth!!! They are so special and just love them. I have photos from several years ago that I took of two of them in my lantana bush!! I was beyond excited, so I know how you feel!! So glad that you got to see one, take photos of it and then share with all of us!!! FAV!

@olivetreeann @cashew Thank you ladies. now that I know there's such a thing as hummingbird moth, I googled it....saw some awesome pictures of them.
@alia_801 I was informed by Kathy and Ann that what I thought was a baby hummingbird, is a hummingbird moth.

I love your collage. Going backwards here. My word, your attacks that take you to the ER come on suddenly after feeling well. So scary. Thinking of you.
