Had to go and buy an Aircast Boot. a few weeks ago I bumped my ankle and although I put ice on it and kept it elevated as much as possible (almost impossible as I'm an active person) over time it got more and more swollen from my toes up to my knee. I hurt my ankles before and the doctor just says to stay off them, put ice on and elevate. so this time I didn't go to see him until it got really bad.
X-rays showed I fractured either my fibular or tibia bone (can't remember which one he mentioned) and that I now was suppose be off my feet for 4 to 6 weeks. not me! had him prescribe the Aircast boot so I can at least walk around a little bit without hurting too much.
So sorry to hear this, Bruni, but thank goodness for those space boots. I was in one for six weeks not so long ago due to a stress fracture, and it certainly made a huge difference.
Oh Bruni! Wow- I hope the boat helps keep you active, but take it easy at least for a few days (o: Isn't it crazy how we can think we just bumped something when in reality we smashed it!? Get well soon!!
@olivetreeann Thanks Ann. I'm suppose to wear it for 5 to 6 weeks. I bumped the ankle on the open dishwasher door when it was down and the lower part with dishes was resting on top of it.
I am so sorry to reads this, Bruni. Glad you finally went to the Dr. I have a boot just like this when I folded my ankle, just sprained/strained. Painful. Put it up and let it heal and I would still use ice as that works after the fact as well. I hope it heals up fast too. Listen to your Dr. Hang in there too.
