..looking down to see what's going on under the feeder. most likely he saw a bunch of mourning doves and maybe some blackbirds feeding from the spilled seeds. the finches have their own feeder.
As a kid, I used to have an educational card game called Goldfinch which was like "Go Fish" but you had to get cards in sets of bird families. A great way to identify birds. Nice close up.
