Monarch

CORRECTION - I was informed in one of my comments that this is a American Painted Lady...

I finally saw a monarch ( or so I thought ) flitting around my moms. we were just coming home from babysitting our daughter's home for a few hours while she got some window panes replaced. as soon as we got
home and into our driveway, I saw the monarch. my camera was in the car and so I just got out quietly, advanced towards the flowers and started shooting. lucky the monarch stayed around for a while for me to get all kinds of shots. maybe I'll post another one in my second album.
Great one.

A lovely capture. It's known as a Red Admiral here in the UK. Fav!! 😀

@bruni I thought you would like to know. Monarch have similar coloring but they are only orange and black (with little white dots) whereas the Painted Lady also has white and brown. I'm not sure of the migration pattern of the Painted Ladies, but the Monarchs may have already gone south.

@olivetreeann Ann describes a monarch well so you can see we have here a real and pretty Painted Lady - like myself of course!
