Roof shingling - in extreme weather condition

As one of our saying goes - Only in Canada.

These five guys were laying shingles in the worst weather conditions. it had snowed overnight and was still coming down ever so lightly. the roads were slushy and slippery and it was about a little under minus 30 degree F.

My husband can tell you. many years ago he helped a buddy out by giving him a hand.So Hans and another guy were shingling his roof when it started raining. Hans went back to our house and brought a plastic sheet to cover the roof. (we live only three houses apart) while up on the roof, he picked up a bundle of shingles to take off the roof and slid on the plastic and went over with the full bundle of tiles. he broke both his heals. the right one in three different places. I think he learned his lesson. he hasn't been back on a roof ever since.
In our country the workers has to be protected or getting ``vorstverlet`` ( A pay if they can`t work by the winter conditions.)

Jeff did roofing with his father for a while- they never put the shingles on in bad weather so that moisture didn't get trapped between the shingles and the plywood. Not the smartest time to do this job!

@olivetreeann Ann the house in mind is on Grace's street and we saw it today when Hans and I picked her up. Hans said the guys put some ice and water shield on first when Grace and I saw them the other day. when we got back back from my appointment later that day, the job was done. I guess the five guys work good together.

@bruni Well that's good to know- getting a new roof is not inexpensive!
