Caterpillar Saga 2: Flower & Eater by bulldog

Caterpillar Saga 2: Flower & Eater

Following on from my photo on the 30th August of a couple Meadow Grass flowers, I am pleased to announce the birth of an orange version of the Nasturtium and a photo of the little sod that is trying to kill them.
Thank you to both @rosiekind and @tishpics for confirming the flower name.

Not only has he eaten hole in the leaves he has left his dropping on the leaf

Beautiful flower! I'm sorry about the nasty little leaf-eater...but on the bright side, maybe you're helping to make a beautiful butterfly? :)

Think it's the Large White butterfly caterpillar, loved by birds but best despatched by a quick squish between the finger and thumb (no,, I can't do it either). Quick, you must act, they are voracious!

His name is Bert and he keeps his head down most of the time...
It's a lovely shot of the flower. I think my usual way of getting rid of Bert's family is to gently pick them up on a leaf and let them go for a flyyyyyyyyy over the hedge into the no-man's land. The kids know that caterpillars, slugs and snails love flying...!

@filsie65 that's hilarious Phil.
Lovely photos, don't know the caterpillar, but it's pretty! :)

@cally - Thanks Cally, I have to agree.
@clmiller - I may have to keep an eye on it?
@tishpics - Thanks Trish, but I think I may go for Phils option
@filsie65 - I will have to try this, we have a right weirdo living behind is so he can have them.
@lynnb Thanks Lynn, these comment really made me smile.

Lovely collage... shame about the muncher on your leaves... you do need to act fast as the little blighter will make a real pig of himself and if there is one there is bound to be many more......... the invasion of the caterpillar ♥
