Tails from the bird table 01 - Robin all the worms by bulldog

Tails from the bird table 01 - Robin all the worms

So today I had another attempt at stop motion on the bird tray.
This time is purchased "small bird" food, to try and prevent the Big Fat Pigeons eating everything, and added some lovely meal-worms.
This was the best shot of nearly 3 hours of photos (just over 700 shots, taken at 15 second intervals).
I have cut out the some of the blank shot (which was most of them) and added the vidoe here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMyq3FtbXfg

Well it was worth the time and effort, what a chummy little fellow you have captured. Love the gymnastic warm up, he will be doing the splits by tomorrow. FAV

This is a great shot. That robin looks as if he's about to say something!
And the composition is really nice, too.

Great shot - do pigeons not eat small bird food?

Take a look at the video, I think that says it all.

Good capture. I watched the video. I think the pigeon got more than his share. I felt like I was taking one of those peripheral vision eye tests in which tiny bright lights blink. You are supposed to say when you see one of those light. I felt like calling out "bird" when I saw one "blink" in the background. Funny me! Great video though.

I think the pigeon is laughing at you! Maybe you should hook up an automatic water pistol and fire it off at him every time he lands.
February 24th, 2013
He is looking very suspicious.

I love your comment about the eye test Kathryn, if you look at the video from 21 seconds in, you can see the Robin dancing about in the planters until he appears on the table at 38 seconds.

I am often amazed at some peoples kind comments and other times I am amused by the wit, but today.. I get the feeling that you three have been out on the wine together?

Great composition of the robin in front of the beautiful blue containers.
February 24th, 2013
Well caught! Cool video - about the only way you'll keep a woody off is by suspending the seeds in a hanging feeder, then he'll hang around on the ground below to collect the seeds the others dropped!
February 24th, 2013
This second attempt is much improved on the first!!!
February 24th, 2013
Thanks Alison, I will try that.
