130611 The Making of Bright

1. Purchase a glass cutting drill
2. Read the instructions
3. Drill a hole in the bottom of the bottle (Ask an adult to help)
4. Stick the candle to a dish
5. Light the candle and place the bottle over.

Nice, fun candle-in-bottle shots! Thanks for the instructions --especially the part about actually reading the instructions.

Or, the budget version, (1) Heat bottom of bottle over the gas whilst rotating it slowly, until it gets properly hot, (2) plunge bottom of bottle into bucket of cold water (3) proceed from step four above :)

Fantastically executed

@mcmary And the bit about asking an adult to help! Thankfully no mention of it having to be a "responsible" adult! ;)

Well....that answers my question! They would be great for the yard as they wouldn't blow out.

Aha, here I was thinking you stuck the candle in the bottle, kept it straight somehow, and lit it with a long match or something.

Not like I have any empty beer bottles lying around, but IF I DID, I would so try this!

Interesting, does that shatter the glass or take it off clean?

Thank you all for your comments, I know a few of you would like to try this and I have added a few more safety warnings to the original port: http://365project.org/bulldog/365/2013-06-11

@bulldog If you're careful to heat just the rim and make it really quite hot, it should (and does) come away clean - takes a little practice, though.

A perfect bright idea, and very nicely done may I say!

I would think the first step would be to drink the beer then proceed with the steps you outlined :)

Having drunk the beer - I probably wouldn't be fit to read the instructions! - but faving it for the instructions! fav (and the awesome composition and focus skills demonstrated therein)
