@bulldog - eatable is fine. edible is what the word-nazis would prefer. And yes, this looks to me like a Day Lily, or Hemerocallis and they are eatable, a little peppery, a lot grassy. You'd want to be desperate but it shocks the kiddies when you chew on one...
One of the things I love about 365 is that I learn so much on here. For example, today I have learnt a new horticultural term. You see I always called them "stamens" but I was wrong, They are in fact "wibbly things". Also now I know that you can eat day lilies. I'm not sure I'd want to but at least now I have the choice of eating them for lunch or just looking at them.
