It might have looked cool with some selective coloring- like making color lines go up to the b/w crayons, or vice versa. mho- it's just a bit static with them stacked there. Could use some dramatic lighting and maybe all on the same plane. Well, I think it's a beginning.
My son is colour blind apparently a lot of his world looks a bit like this funny thing is he would be able to identify the colours of the crayons for you!
I like the way it brings out the waxy textures but I love that I live in a colored world and I seldom even think about doing a conversion - I have to agree with you here.
