You can see the River on the left and then the first steps of the ladder going away from us, under the road at the far end and then back up to us on the right of this picture.
The ladder was in 1951, at the same time as the dam and it consists of 34 separate pools, each 50cm higher than the last, allowing the Salmon to climb up to Lock Faskally at the top and then onto their breeding ground.
