So today, Mrs Bulldog, my borrowed niece and I went to see Fantastic Mr Fox and friends at the Roald Dahl museum in Great Missenden.
This was followed by a trip to 'Mr Twits Cafe' where you can get a Piping Hot Whizzpopper (Swirls of foamy hot chocolate with raspberry coulis topped with crushed maltesers, smarties and marshmallows), or a Super Cold Fizzlecrumper (Lemonade topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sprinkles).
How cool that those places exist and the names of those drinks are real!! MY CHILDHOOD!!! I used to just adore reading Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton... totally love those drink names, they're making me giggle :)
Woohooo!!!! How awesome is this!!! I had no idea this place existed!!! If ever I travel to the UK this is on my list of "places to visit!!!" I love Roald Dahl's books!!! I still read them!
Thank you all for you lovely comments, looks like there are a lots of Roald Dahl enthusiasts around?
It is a lovely little museum and we had great fun, the sad news is I have to give my niece back today, so I will have to wait till next time, before I have a good excuse to visit places like this again. :(
The Piping Hot Whizzpopper sounds perfect for a cold day but a killer for the cholesterol [sigh]
Your photo captures hot and cold too with the icy blue walls and door and warm glow from the windows
what a great find of a magic place. I'd love to have a Piping Hot Whizzpopper -I bought a Raold Dahl recipe book about dishes and drinks occuring in his stories, when my kids were small we tried out a lot of these
I've been meaning to go for months and months! Really must do it.
@ozziehoffy Both Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton lived just round the corner from us. There is quite a lot of stuff for Dahl (museum, cafe, grave) but I'm not sure about anything for Blyton. I loved both their books too :)
@cally See.. as a kid, that would've put me in HEAVEN!! As an adult, it makes me smile and I recall all those days/nights with my face in their books... perhaps it was the fantasy?
