I had a day off today and after freezing my bits off, washing my car this morning (the water was actually freezing as I sploshed it on), I took myself off for a well deserved pint in the local village of Bryants Bottom in the Chiltern Hills.
The Gate is a traditional country pub set in the beautiful countryside village. This Freehouse Inn dates from 1864 and is the perfect setting for a family get together or a stroll in the country. It is a popular watering hole for walkers, cyclists and tourists alike and is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with fantastic rural scenery.
They stock an extensive range of locally brewed Real Ales (for the real men), and imported beers (for the boys) as well as carefully selected wines (for the ladies) and Champagnes (how posh).
Anyway, the weather was shite but the beer was great.
Yes this sounds like very good planning on your part!! LOL!! It sounds like a great pub - just the place to be on a freezing cold day like today - do they have a log fire? That would make it perfect!!
It was not planned, I just googled 'The Gate' and found this one about 6 miles away. It was the first time I have been there and it's a lovely little pub, with a real log fire Pam.
Thanks for the namecheck, and my monthly reminder that Schrodinger's Bulldog is alive and well. Looking forward to April and refer you to my previous comment again.
@gphelps5 Not much these days as we don't go to Speen as we used to when the kids were little - they're now all grown up and not donkey fans any longer!
I'm torn... I just can't decide what I'm more impressed by ... your creativity... your images... or your brief, descriptive narratives... Regardless, I love it all!
Sounds like one of your past employments might have been a holiday courier.....can just see you standing up in the coach, and now ladies and gentlemen if will look to your right............great pub sign!!...
