Mar 22: Water by bulldog

Mar 22: Water

I had a brilliant idea for todays 'Water' shot, I was going to use my sons waterproof camera and put it under the water level to photograph the undersides of ducks.
Unfortunately, the canal water was so dirty, you could not see more than 1cm through the green gunk.
So here is a shot from above the waterline, as 'SnaggleBug' floats into the lock.

I absolutely love this - perfect composition!

Thank you both, it such a shame the water was thick green and not clear blue.

Oh what a pity for you, you must have been so excited at the thought of posting ducks tummies!! I hope you will do it eventually when the conditions are right. This is a lovely substitute shot, love the pov and the shimmering water.

Lovely reflections!! I went to the Grand Union Canal yesterday at Stoke Bruen but it was so windy the water had waves like the sea!!

The duck shot is a genius idea.......can't imagine what the ducks are going to think of you lurking with a camera near their bellies!

Great shot of SnaggleBug :)
March 22nd, 2013
Love the perspective. But I have to ask "SnaggleBug"
March 22nd, 2013
You are hilareous - photograph the underside of ducks!! Each to his own I suppose. Bulldog you are a legend! Nice barge by the way.
March 22nd, 2013
nice Pov Bulldog I liked the fact you would have used your sons waterproof camera if the water was ok.
March 22nd, 2013
The green gunk is a problem, but I think the bigger problem is ..... the lack of ducks!!!!
March 22nd, 2013

Fantastic pov, Graham! Where on earth were you; on a lock gate or on one of those concrete aprons where they tread when they open it?

This is really nice, love the reflections on the water - this is just as good as any duck!
March 23rd, 2013
The other problem as I see it, is hat you are also going to have to get into the water with camera...........and its far too cold, so sensible decision, until the summer and clearer water it is then!
March 23rd, 2013
I was kneeling done on a lock gate in Hemel.

@gphelps5 Blimey, Graham! Towards the middle of the canal by the looks (or should that be locks?) of it?
March 23rd, 2013
Lovely shot .... I love the idea of the duck's bellies but perhaps Fanny is right and it's best to keep out of the water for now....! I visualised you in a wet suit swimming along to get this until I saw where you were..!
