Jun 01: Bench by bulldog

Jun 01: Bench

Nit the best shot as we were shaded in this part of 'Bottom Wood'.
We have walked this route with the dogs a number of times and this is the only bench in the wood, overlooking the valley.
I have added the inscription that is on the top beam of the bench.

Bench is the first of the Jump-4-June words

Very touching, Bulldog. I hope you don't mind if I share the entire poem:

The Peace of Wild Things
By Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief.
I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

I never saw this practice before I went to England (York) the first time. I think it's a really nice way to remember people.
