Jul 19: Devils Bridge v1

Todays word in Bridge and quick Google came up with 'Devil's Bridge' on 'Spooky Lane'... How could I resist...

The bridge can be found in the village of Nettleden (Hertfordshire) and is home to the Ashridge Monk, a ghost from the Benedictine monastery.

The original 19th Century driveway to Ashridge House began on the Nettleden Road leading from the Gade valley, the Hemel Hempstead side of Ashridge. The then Earl or Duke of Bridgewater, who owned the house and grounds, decided to sink the original straight medieval road (also known locally as the Roman Road or Spooky Lane) which leads from Frithsden to Nettleden, into a deep cutting with flint lined walls and a Tudor style bridge over the top so that he wouldn't have to make contact with the villagers.

Yes I ventured in: http://365project.org/bulldog/365-additions/2013-07-19

Ooooh, I like it. You need a figure silhouetted in there sometime. A lurker. Very nice. Happy weekend.

Great pov and what an amazing place - The arch of the bridge has a beautiful elegance of shape and the woods give a real sense of mystery.

This is extraordinary. There is a very similar scene not 400 yards from here. Ours is more of a path, though - and we don't have a ghost!

@hopelessromantic I thought of there when I saw this too!

We have a path under a road that looks pretty similar too. Not quite as spooky though (whistles the theme from the Twilight Zone)....

Love the feel of this road and surrounds - looks like a large truck with struggle to get through though.
