A serious one from me today as the word is Purple, for National Purple Day in aid of people suffering from Epilepsy.
Epilepsy is a common but serious neurological condition where there is a tendency to have seizures that start in the brain. There are over 40 types of epilepsy, affecting more than half a million people in the UK. This is around 1 in 100 people and anyone can develop epilepsy, it happens in all ages, races and social classes. http://www.epilepsysociety.org.uk/
This folder is my sons, he is a carer at the Epilepsy Society in Buckinghamshire and does an amazing job help people with this condition.
and if you would like to learn a little more about the human brain, this is a video that helped my son though his physiology degree. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snO68aJTOpM
Good for your son for choosing this career. My good friend was just diagnosed in mid-life and his wife tells me that a very high number of late-life diagnosed people commit suicide. :-(
I didn't realise that there was an Epilepsy Day either and my brother suffers from it although well controlled on medication. He didn't develop it until he was in his 60s. Well done for your son.
Good capture. You must be very proud of your son, Graham.
(I have a son with learning difficulties and I have a lot of respect for people who *choose* to take on the role of carers.)
We had a friend a while back who suffered from a very rare version of epilepsy. It is a disease that makes you feel so helpless. Hats off to your son and his work with this organization.
