Tonight's shot is for the Mundane challenge: RULER and this is a shot of my Grand fathers originally 100ft tape. I say originally, as over time the foot tape must have broken and he attached a 10 meter tape the the end, this this is actually a 10 meter tape from the outside, and 50 ft tape from the inside.
I have done a little research and 'J. Rabone & Sons' were origianly based in Hockley Abbey Works, Whitmore Street, Hockley, Birmingham.
In 1963 they merged with Chesterman of Sheffield to form Rabone Chesterman, and since 1984 is now part of Dial Engineering with Stanley Tools and other brands.
I also remember one like this at home , and the hours of fun I had going round the living room measuring this and that ( great exercise in maths !!) and then the fun of turning that little handle to neatly rewind the yards of tape back into the case ! A blast from the past Bulldog !
