'Time Eater' by busylady

'Time Eater'

This is the famous 'time eater' clock in central Cambridge. It was unveiled by Stephen Hawking in 2008 and cost £1,000,000. It has no hands or numbers and is only accurate every 5 minutes. It is gold plated and measures 4 feet across. The large creature on the top is a grasshopper who is clawing away at the cogs in the wheel every second. Notice the reflection of the buildings behind me, at the top of the glass.
Wow, that's quite the clock! I like the reflection. :)

Very strange looking. Why the name "time eater"?

This is really neat! I love the reflections too!

@mikegifford I guess because it looks like the grasshopper is 'eating' away at the time, as he claws at the cogs.
