poppies

These are the poppies growing wild on my allotment. There are such a lot of colour variations, but I wasn't able to get them all in the picture.

Poppies are very special to me so I just love this!
I first fell in love with them when our previous house was on the market and when I saw the long border full of poppies it had a huge emotional impact on me! Since then poppies in all forms seem to come my way from friends and family!

@kaynadog Thanks for your comments. I think the truly wild ones are all red, the shades of purple and pink ones seem to be partly cultivated - if only for their opium!
