Foxton Locks 2 by busylady

Foxton Locks 2

Another photo from our visit to Foxton Locks yesterday. This shows the ponds which hold the water as the locks empty. Only one lock full of water was lost each time a boat went up or down. No boats were using the locks yesterday but plenty of families were visiting the site.
I love the canal system in the UK. Would love to hire a boat one day and do a "cruise". I have friends that have done this and loved it...I explored some of the canals around Birmingham last year (on land).

Oh wow, love this. we took our aunt and uncle's canal boat several years ago. Are there 5 or 6 locks?

@sailingmusic There are two sets of 5 locks so it's quite a steep climb for the boats.

An excellent shot from a well-chosen viewpoint, Judith, and the commentary completes the picture!
