Down on the plot - at last! by busylady

Down on the plot - at last!

Finally the weather has warmed up and I've been able to get down to the allotment. I'm still using last year's leeks are as I was unable to dig them up over the winter due to the floods. The rhubarb is just beginning to get going, so I'll soon be picking those early stalks. I planted my shallots today so watch this space.
Yay! Lovely collage!

lovely collage shot ~ I got myself some flower bulbs to plant this year ~ I am in a first floor flat and only have a small balcony area about 2 x 5 foot, but managed broad beans, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers and lots of flowers last year ~ all in pots, my mini sweetcorn, aubergines and strawberries failed :(

Love the collage, your allotment looks so neat, I used to have one, and I know how much hard work is involved ! Of course it's totally worth it :)

@rosiekind Yes, I planted one row today, will plant the rest this week. We're going away on Monday so I want to get them in before then. I think we could still get frost but you could always cover them with fleece.
April 10th, 2013
@busylady Yes I thought I might put some fleece over them just in case!

Nice collage. It looks very neat - better do something about my weeds... Looking forward to my rhubarb which seems to be oblivious to the weather - think I might run to making some jam with it this year...
