This oak tree in our local park was struck by lightning in the storms last Monday night. I didn't get to see it before the council had moved in to 'make it safe' but this gives some idea of the damage. The tree was partly rotten anyway and debris was spread over quite a large area. I bet it was an amazing sight to see!
@happypat We have considered taking some of the wood but as it's a park they usually leave it for animal and insect habitats. I personally think it's just 'cos the council can't be bothered to do anything else with it. Also it's quite a way from the road so would involve quite a bit of transporting.
Lightening is very destructive!!!
