We visited the new war memorial in Tempsford yesterday and this newly erected board showing men from the town who lost their lives. We may well remember them but have we learned any lessons form this tragic war? Or indeed from the wars still going on today? It's all such a tragic waste of life.
This was was the most horrendous with face to face battle - so different from today's wars - rockets, etc. Good to see it being remembered all round the world!
That's a lovely photo and so nice to put faces to the names. Somehow a list of names is very impersonal. And I rather liked the poppies at the Tower of London on the News today. Gives a sense of the vastness of the number of fatalities. We have so much to be thankful for!
