I spent a very useful morning on the allotment, but there's always time for a break and a coffee. Some of what you see here now belongs to my allotment partner who manages half of the plot. The old bench I'm sitting on was given to me by my neighbour who had no further use for it, but still has lots of life left in it. The old scarecrow has featured before - in better days - he definitely needs a makeover! I found the two ladybird insets enjoying life on the parsnips.
A very tidy productive allotment Juduth........it must have been very pleasant in the sun beavering away there.....lots of stuff growing I see.....we are eating our potatoes at the moment.
@maggiemae Oh I wish!!! No I have to provide my own drinks. I take a flask with me or sometimes Peter brings me a freshly made cappuccino! Sometimes we light our little primus stove and use our whistling kettle. It's not until someone asks me a question that I realise how much detail I've left out!
@maggiemae PS. It's the late Peter Rowley who owns the land - a wealthy landowner in the town. We pay £20 per plot per year in rent for the land. He recently (well in the last 10 years) donated 1 million pounds to the town which we used to start the ball rolling to have a cinema built. It must have taken 7 or 8 years for the local council to get things sorted out and we do now have a very nice cinema facility with restaurants and outdoor seating areas. I must take a photo of it one day.
