We visited Durham city this weekend for the Lumiere event. held every two years. This is part of the cathedral illuminated across the river. The lighting below was 'the fog' which was rather atmospheric with the black trees. Saturday evening was pouring with rain but we still enjoyed the various colourful installations around the city. The crowds of people were very well managed and all the marshalls were extremely helpful and friendly. It does make you think though about events such as these, in the wake of the terrible massacre in Paris on Friday. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those who lost loved ones and were affected in any way by the atrocities.
Love the way the light goes all the way down to,the bottom lighting each area as it travels. Durham is a lovely city....I have been on the cathedral roof a long time ago! Must have been special place with all the festivities!
