These extensive and impressive ruins are on the outskirts of Richmond, North Yorkshire. The abbey is also known as the Abbey of St. Agatha, and was founded in 1152. We visited here on the way up to Durham at the weekend. Now maintained by English Heritage and a good place to stop off if you're travelling North. No tea shop though!
@pamknowler How interesting that you did the walk. I read about it on Wikipedia. Sadly it was raining when we were there and also we were just passing through. Perhaps another time.
