I'm winding down the allotment this year. I've looked after it for 10 years and now feel it's time to have a well earned break from the work involved, the jam and chutney making and the freezers full of vegetables and fruit. I'll miss my 60th birthday apple tree - a present from my lovely neighbours, and the fresh sweetcorn which has been extra sweet this year. I'm hoping the figs will ripen this year after our super hot summer. I won't miss the constant watering during the heatwave and the rodents and pests who stole my crops! Yes I know - they were hungry too.
Wonderful collage Judith, beautiful individual photos making a lovely whole! I know how you have loved your allotment.....come next Spring you will be a bit lost I imagine but sure you & Peter will have things to do & places to go!
Lovely collage Judith . You will have so much time on your hands - after being so devoted and industrious in your allotment But I am sure you will get used to having that extra time for other activities ! Fav for a wonderful collage ( especially that photo of the basketful of apples ! )
Good for you to make the decision. Going on too long is a lot worse. I'm sure you will find lots of other things to keep you busy and friends are always there when you need them!
An end of an era, but I'm sure you'll find something else to fill that 'gap'
