I was treated to a fabulous day out for my recent birthday which included a tour of this fascinating historical complex of buildings. Dating back to the 14th century it started out as a Carthusian monastery, but over time was used as an almshouse and school and is now home to about 60 'brothers'. Although not strictly brothers in the monastic sense they are elderly gentlemen (and now a couple of ladies) who are in need of a place to stay. (Terms and conditions apply!) The day ended with a visit to the fabulous musical 'Come from Away'
