Little Barford Manor House by busylady

Little Barford Manor House

A good day for a cycle ride! We rode out through pocket park and on to the hamlet of Little Barford, 7 miles from Bedford. The 2011 census recorded just 44 people living there. This rather grand house was built int the 19th century by the Alington family and has been in a delapidated state since 2010. The Alington family are at present in discussions about who should inherit the property after the death of the owner 3 years ago. Apparently it's all furnished inside and the lower windows are boarded up to prevent vandalism. Just behind me is the beautiful church of St Denys, which must have served a much larger population in days gone by. I'll post a picture another day!
Looks very spacious and in a lovely setting. A great day for getting out on your bikes.

It looks like a lovely place but anyone who took it on would have to have quite a few bucket loads of money.

A nice shot, lovely leading lines. What a shame such an interesting building has been left unused. Fav!

GReat shot, hope the owners reach some kind of agreement and the house gets lived-in again.

A beautifully composed capture, with strong leading lines. Certainly a building that will need some TLC ...and quite a bit of inheritance tax?!

It looks like a place with a fascinating history - perhaps it has been extended and further extended over the centuries?
Looks like it needs to be lived in and loved again.
