Welland viaduct by busylady

Welland viaduct

This impressive viaduct has 82 spans and is the longest masonry viaduct to cross a valley in the UK.. It was completed in 1878 and now has Grade 2 listed status. It runs on the Oakham to Kettering line and is mostly used by freight trains and steam specials. A daily passenger service has recently been added.
Great capture with the view beyond.

1878 and it's still standing and useful- makes you wonder about all the things we build now that hardly last 5 years! Good shot.
