We first came across this ancient church in 1989 hidden under a mass of tangled blackberry bushes and shrubs. Inside it was full of debris, and trees were growing. It was derelict and unloved. Today it's a different story as it has been adopted by The Friends of Friendless Churches. They have replaced floorboards, patched up plaster and renovated one of the stained glass windows after the vandals had got in.
The pews had all been removed to another church and the silver sold in the 1960's after the last time it was used.
A beautiful and unique looking church , and in spite of all the ransacking and vandalism in the past it is good to know that it will be renovated to its former glory very soon !
A nice shot of this lovely church interior. Good to hear of the restoration by the Friends of Friendless Churches. I love the decoration, particularly the tile floors.
Beautiful! I find church architecture/design very interesting, from the big cathedrals to wayside chapels... I don't know why exactly, but I do! I love effect of the beams in this one, and it's always interesting to see which colour schemes and design motifs the people chose, like the cross-hatch/diamond pattern carried so much through this one!
