It was a day of changing skies and weather but we managed to find the sunshine for our walk along the riverside.
The 'Isle of Ely' is built on a 23 square-mile island of Kimmeridge clay, so was not waterlogged like the surrounding Fenland. While it was once an island it is now surrounded by land but is still known as the Isle of Ely.
How lovely. It's a part of the country that I've only visited two or three times but very close to my heart.
One of the people whose writing had a significant impact on my reading and learning when doing my Bachelor of Education degree was Sybil Marshall who lived in Ely in her later years.
I wonder if you came across her when you were learning and teaching. 💛
@sarah19 I didn't know Sybil Marshall, but I did know a Sybil Hannavy. She wrote the Middle Infant Screening Test. Could it be the same person? She also wrote a new and innovative reading scheme
