The day started bright and sunny, so after tidying up after last night's revelry, we headed out to Paxton pits for a walk. It's a large site with many different routes, sometimes passing lakes, the river, bird hides and areas dedicated to wildlife. Today's walk took us past the new gravel excavation sites. The site was first excavated in 1930, and will continue to be used for gravel for many more years. This picture shows the digger and the conveyer belt used for transferring the sand and gravel to the sorting site
