I'm sure there is a lot of variety in engines, but I don't pay close enough attention. Are there many variations by year or brand? Or are they like commercial jets with very few brands and the same basic model for many years at a time.
@mcrt from what I have read, there are only two manufactures in the US and they have a base model and you customize them for you needs. They also continue to refine the engines for emissions, traction configuration and many other factors. Or if you're refer to my "montana rail engine" statement, then I'm looking for a company train.
