Beacon of Light by caitnessa

Beacon of Light

Driving home from work on my little brother's birthday... he would of been 28 - I was feeling sad, thinking of him, and how he left us too soon (he died in January last year - unepectedly, in his sleep... possibly from unknown heart issue). Anyway.... the skies were gloomy and dark, almost black, even though it was a good hour before sunset. A storm was brewing. I looked in my rearview mirror, and the clouds parted to show a sliver of sky... and this really bright beacon of light came from a break in the clouds. I pulled over to watch it ( as did a few other people). Only lasted a few minutes, and then it was gone.

No editing, this is how bright it was! :)

This was taken on the 9th, but I forgot to post it. (The one I took for 11th was just a regular sky pic)
it's like an open portal! how beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time :(

Stunning ray of light. I've seen similar before but never been able to photograph one as they tend not to last very long. Sorry to hear about your brother sounds like he was taken way too soon.

Oh Heather this is so beautiful. As Ulrika said beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. I am sure you must have got solace from such a gorgeous scene.

My daughter died 4 years ago and a couple of months after she passed away I was walking along the beach feeling rather sad. It was very hot day, but out over the ocean there was a huge black cloud. The sun went behind the cloud and gave off the most amazing golden lining. I just felt that all would be well. I hope you felt the same seeing this amazing scene. xx Take care. fav.
