Eryngium, or sea holly as it's also known by - is the thistle like, spikey flower in the middle. I noticed the contrast of the pokey petals against the soft petals of the surrounding flowers.
( I never knew this flowers name, but saw it on the package .... this is another super market flower pic, on my way home from work)
Beautiful contrast! I have sea hollies in my garden for the first time this year - it survived our frigid winter in a plastic pot! Can't remember buying it though... must have been on the sale rack last fall.
@elkereturns haha surprise flowers are the best. Sometimes I don't remember what's planted where, till they come up far enough in the spring to tell what everything is
I always feel guilty at the store, for "taking" pictures of the flowers, but never buying any, haha. (once in a while in winter I will).
A few times people have asked "can I help you?" and I'm like "no, just looking."
thanks all for taking the time to leave nice comments.
