Valentine's Day Traditions

So when my oldest was 4 she was sad that Valentine's day was "only for Mom's and Dad's and people in Love". Sh wasn't in school yet, to get Valentine's from friends. Her Dad and I said anyone can celebrate love on Valentine' day. So we started a new tradition with her, to have a scavenger hunt around the house with clues, leading to her surprise ( candy ).

Tom and I always made each other handmade valentine's. Originally out of neccessity ( we didn't have much money) and then later we liked it because we could express our love with our own words, not look for what Hallmark had to say.

Fast forward 13 years later... I still do the scavenger hunt with the kids ( they both look forward to the adventure more than the candy surprise I think!) and we still make and exchange homemade cards with each other. I treasure them.

Friday the 16th will be 5 years since my dear husband Tom ( the girls' Dad) passed away from cancer.
But my fiance Dean loves our tradition, and participates happily with us.

Sweet!!

Such a cool tradition for the children and there's nothing like the love that goes into a handmade card 😊

I love homemade cards, to me they're always more special. Your Valentine Scavenger Hunt sounds like a lot of fun! Both of these are lovely traditions! :-)
