What was supposed to be an hours walk before making soup for lunch emerged as a 4 1/2 walk into the nountains to the sunmmit, followed by a hot soak in the bath. I headed towards the hills and thought a trip up the valley floor would be a change but was drawn on a sunny day upwards. About 20 minutes from the top, what promised to be a super view vanished as in all my experiences of summits, and I was surrounded by grey cloud and could just see the summit cairn. Luckily I had almost suitable clothing though no drink or snack but happily sucked on snow.
@chris17@harbie No soup as I got back at tea time! I had a long soak in the bath as it took it's toll on the hips, but after that and a gin and tonic I felt fine. Soup will have to wait.
