Beautiful

Lovely light and bokeh. Wonder how you could have isolated the subject a bit more?

@jgpittenger I was afraid to crop it down any further... this is just a section of a larger photo... I liked the rimlight around that tendril... thank you for the suggestion... I will go back and re-crop and see what I can come up with! If it isn't too grainy, I will post in my extras album and tag you!

@calm I'm not sure a tighter crop is the answer... maybe a macro shot would have even further shortened the dof letting it shine in clear focus and more of the green leaves around it fade into the background a bit? Not sure...more a query

Beautiful composition and lighting. I think it looks good the way it is.

@jgpittenger Macro would have been the best solution... but I haven't purchased a macro lens for my Canon yet and this was over a steep bank in high weeds... I did not venture into the jungle! I have a macro on my wish list! Also a wide angle lens, and filters, a hood, a new tri-pod, a shutter release................................................................. :)

Aren't we all?
September 12th, 2013
A lovely devant jour effect. What lens did you use?
September 12th, 2013
@janturnbull Just the kit lens that came with the camera... a Canon EFS 18-135 mm. The kit also came with a 70-300 mm lens.
September 12th, 2013
@calm If you are looking to isolate the subject further, try standing well back with the 70-300 lens on its macro setting and zooming in.
September 12th, 2013
@janturnbull I will! I did not have the other lens with me... had just walked my dog to the bottom of the hill, with camera in hand! I haven't experimented much with the other lens... maybe that should be my goal for the next week or so! Thank you!!!

oh, you captured the light so well!! yes, I have some plans to do just as you suggested! I might even take an online photo class...not sure because I won't be able to get out much to practice

The sunlit outline of that little tendril just jumps off the photo. You captured it perfectly! I noticed that you have all the same things on your wish list as I do!
