George Vanderbilt created his country retreat in 1895 on more than 8000 acres, named Biltmore. The 250 room chateau is laden with incredible architectural details (80 rooms are open to the public on various tours). This trio of photos gives one a glimpse of the artistry found in the details on the loggia. There is a 'V' in the beautiful crest atop a doorway. The two photos on either side are examples of the arch supports framing the windows. Photography is not allowed inside the grand house.
