Hydrangea Decline by carole_sandford

Hydrangea Decline

After a bright start, the rest of the day, was dull, grey & cold. No such luck today, to have a woodpecker, so back to the only things in the garden really apart from grass - dead things! The hydrangeas still look like flowers, if rather dry & brown!
Fortunately, this year, I haven’t viscously pruned the Hydrangeas. They should look even better this year.

Nice capture.

But aren’t they elegant in their decline? Your sharp focus on the bloom with the blurred background gives the faded bloom it’s due. It’s beautiful.

This is lovely

But the hydrangea is beautiful even in its demise . My hydrangea was very much flattened in all the snow we had -- I just hope it will straighten up before spring !!

But the dead flower hides and protects the new bud. I like it.

Now you're speaking my language! Love dead things

Oh, yes. I do think they have seen better days. Do you cut them back after they have dried?

Beautiful focus and background. Its strange how Hydrangea flowers keep their form, even when dead!

I never think to photograph mine just before I cut them back - this is lovely

Hydrangea are almost more interesting in this stage than they are blooming. Love the sharpness against your softer background.
